 Modern Foreign Languages

Speak another language at BeaverwoodThe Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) faculty offers French and Spanish for all students at Key Stage 3. On entry into Year 7, students are offered a choice of which language they wish to study, and the school does its utmost to accommodate parents' choice. Students are set in all classes at Key Stage 3.

At Key Stages 4 & 5, we currently offer French, German and Spanish.

The faculty is staffed by specialist language teachers and is fortunate to benefit from the expertise of three native speakers. It is planned to offer students the opportunity to work with foreign language assistants for the academic year 2008-2009.

A number of excursions are planned every year in order to extend students' learning beyond the classroom. Some students in the Sixth Form have previously undertaken work experience abroad.

The faculty staffing for 2008-2009 is as follows:

Mr D Harding - Head of Faculty
Mr D Williams - Second in Faculty
Mrs D Forder - Assistant Head teacher
Mrs C Tipping - Deputy Head teacher
Mrs M Edmunds - Teacher of French and Spanish
