Curriculum
Beaverwood's curriculum is positively forward-thinking in its content and delivery. As a Technology College we respond to the potential offered by new technologies and all of our students study a balanced range of subjects.
The subjects are English, Mathematics, Science, Information Communication Technology, Technology, Modern Foreign Languages, History, Geography, Art, Music, Drama and Physical Education. Additionally, we teach Religious Studies following the Bromley agreed syllabus and Cross-Curricular Studies where Careers, Health, Environmental Issues and Citizenship are covered.
We place great emphasis upon independent study and homework. We regard it as an essential extension of school work. All students have additional learning to complete every evening and parents are provided with a copy of the timetable which is to be found in the Student Planner. They may also make use of the private study facility at lunch time and the Learning Resources Centre before and after school each day. All Year 7 students are given the opportunity to attend a Homework Club at lunch time or after school.
The curriculum is structured to allow students the opportunity to personalise their learning by choosing courses appropriate to their talents and future plans. Students are also provided with the opportunity to become effective planners, and managers of their own pathways, through education and into employment, in a world that is rapidly changing.
All students in Years 7-13 are provided with a Careers Education & Guidance Programme that is planned, progressive and structured.
