Parents' Area : Introduction
Introduction
Parental involvement is highly valued. We look forward to developing a partnership where, together, we will attain the highest standards of conduct and achievement from our students. Our Partnership Agreement underpins this mutual commitment. Parents are invited to a variety of Parental Consultations and also to productions, concerts and many other functions. We keep in touch by means of the Student Planner, frequent circulars and the Beaverwood Newsletter, which is issued once a term to parents. Additionally, the School website and integrated learning platform, provide opportunities for real-time engagement.
Sam Learning
At home parents should encourage their daughters to use sam learning. SAM Learning Secondary is the award winning online subscription service used in over two thirds of schools across the country, schools who want to support their students in improving results at Key Stage 3 SATs and at GCSEs. Last year alone, almost 1 million students revised on SAM Learning. In the weeks leading up to the exams, over 80,000 students a day were logging in from home or school.
Through the use of carefully prepared revision exercises and exam-style questions completed and marked online, and with supporting guidance from subject examiners, students using SAM Learning Secondary develop a strong revision habit and improved exam technique. This increased confidence is reflected in improved results.
SAM Learning Secondary meets the requirement for Personalised Learning and offers a cross curricular opportunity to develop and share good practice in test and exam preparation.
The Fischer Family Trust, an independent, non-profit organisation whose mission includes the development of education in the UK, has conducted studies on the impact of e-learning, showing that SAM Learning Secondary actually works in raising attainment - more info
